Choose your words carefully
When you are trying to land a job, the key words on your CV can make a huge difference.
The right words will get you noticed by recruiters and show potential employers why they should hire you. Often, when writing a CV, you can be so focused on the message that you are trying to convey that the words you use are overlooked.
Avoid using too many general descriptive words e.g. various, some, many, lots, several. Instead quantify your achievements: if you met a target, give the numbers; if you delivered presentations say how many; if you raised money say how much.
We’ve included in this blog some ideas on how you can replace more generic words with words which will ensure you stand out from the crowd:
- Replace Team Player with Collaborative
- Replace Headworker with Accomplished
- Replace Creative with Pioneering
- Replace Results Driven with Efficient
- Replace Details Orientated with Comprehensive
